We need YOU to make your voice heard on this issue. Please write the Jefferson County Planning & Zoning Commission. Encourage them to enforce the current zoning restrictions which would prevent this major expansion of Activation Ministry International.
While most have no issue with the current size and use of this facility, a three-point-three-fold increase in size would have significant impact on Lookout Mountain. If this Special Use is allowed, the future ramifications could extend beyond a large eyesore, community impacts, compromises in safety and security, and traffic jams. What will the next variance entail? Subdivisions? Even greater expansion? According to the County Planners, if this Special Use is awarded, there will be NO maximum limit on the size or number or buildings allowed on this property, only that they have to conform to County easements and setbacks. It's conceivable that the entire 9+ acres could be built out for a campus. It is imperative that we defeat this application. Please use the resources provided by this site to inform yourself about this proposal and to share your views with the County. The Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway, State Scenic & Historic Byway, and our Lookout Mountain rural/mountain iifestyle must be protected. It can’t be done without your help.
